Shutting off & turning on utilities - Whidbey Island

Congratulations! You’re so close to moving in or out of your home and it’s time to call or go online and set up or close down your utility accounts! Below are most of the utility providers in Island County. There are a LOT of water associations so we can’t list all of them here but we will send you the more specific ones in an email.

Electricity - the whole Island is served by Puget Sound Energy. You can start, stop, or move service on their website.

Trash - If you’re not in a city or town you will use Island Disposal which can be set up online here. Many people just take their own trash to the dump which might save you a little $$ but means you probably need a truck or trailer.

Propane -

Natural Gas - Cascade Natural Gas (888)522-1130 https://www.cngc.com/customer-service/start-stop-or-transfer-service/

City of Oak Harbor (garbage, recycling, sewer, storm drain & water) - The City Utilities Office is located on the upper/mail level of City Hall at 865 SE  Barrington Dr. General Questions: (360) 279-4530 Utility Billing: (360) 279-4547

Town of Coupeville (water & sewer) - To start or stop service call the Utility Clerk at (360) 678-4461, ext. 106 or email utilityclerk@townofcoupeville.org For general utility info https://townofcoupeville.org/departments/utilities/

City of Langley - You can find information on their website about sewer, water, and storm water bills here.

Well Water - The entire island (except for the City of Oak Harbor) gets water from a well. Those wells either serve one household or many. Small or mid-size systems typically hire out their management with one of the management companies which are listed below. If it’s a large community like Sierra or Useless Bay they may manage water themselves. Here are the primary management companies serving Whidbey.

Whidbey Island Water Systems Association - If you are a single party well owner or managing a small system you might water to join this great local association to learn more and get support and resources. https://www.whidbeywatersystems.org/
